PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE WELCOMES SIX A-29B SUPER TUCANO CLOSE AIR SUPPORT AIRCRAFT

IN PHOTOS: Simple Acceptance, Turn-over, and Blessing Ceremony of the six (6) Super Tucano Close Air Support aircraft at Haribon Hangar, Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City in Pampanga on October 13, 2020 with the Secretary of National Defense Delfin N Lorenzana as Guest of Honor.

Highlighted during the activity was the turn-over of aircraft documents from Ambassador of Brazil H.E Rodrigo Do Amaral Souza to the Secretary of National Defense Delfin N Lorenzana; SND to Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines GEN GILBERT I GAPAY PA; And CS, AFP to the Commanding General, PAF LTGEN ALLEN T PAREDES PAF. Immediately after, blessing and pouring of champagne on the new platforms were also executed.

The aircraft was acquired from Brazil’s Embraer Defense and Security through the AFP Modernization Program Horizon 2 in line with the PAF Flight Plan 2028 which aims to enhance the AFP's attack capability in conducting internal security operations.

It is capable of day and night fighting (Air-to-Air and Air-to-Ground Missions), non-precision and precision guided air munitions, close air support, light attack, surveillance, and counterinsurgency missions.
