The Philippine Air Force (PAF) formally received one TPS-P14ME Mobile Air Surveillance Radar System from Japan's Mitsubishi Electric Corporation in a ceremony held at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City, on April 29, 2024.

During the ceremony, His Excellency Oniki Makoto, Japan State Minister of Defense, underscored the importance of the strategic partnership between Japan and the Philippines in strengthening regional peace, security, and stability.

Meanwhile, Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro Jr. expressed his confidence that the new radar system will significantly bolster the Philippines' overall operational readiness and security posture. He also emphasized the commitment of the people of Japan to assist the Philippines in the joint and collaborative effort to uphold rules-based international orders and a free and open Indo-Pacific. Sec. Teodoro Jr. then extended his gratitude to the Japanese government for its continued support.

His Excellency Endo Kazuya, Japan Ambassador to the Philippines, officially turned over the radar system documents to Secretary Teodoro Jr. and consequently handed them over to Lt. Gen. Arthur M Cordura PAF, Vice Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). The documents were then entrusted to Lt. Gen. Stephen P Parreño PAF, the Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force.

This newly acquired mobile radar is one of the four (4) units of the air surveillance radar systems acquired under AFP Modernization Horizon 2. This mobile radar provides flexibility and capability to be deployed in different locations, allowing the military to quickly set up surveillance of air and surface targets in remote or strategic areas.
