The Philippine Air Force, through the Tactical Operations Group 2 led by LTC RANDY G BUENA PAF (MNSA) provided medical evacuation to the injured residents of Itbayat, Batanes after their homes collapsed due to a 5.9 magnitude earthquake which struck earlier on Saturday, 27 July 2019.
Six (6) seriously injured Itbayat residents were airlifted to Basco, Batanes via a PAF C295. The patients were then brought to Batanes General Hospital for further medical attention.
Moreover, two teams of PAF Disaster Response Task Units from the 505th Search and Rescue Group and S-7 team flew from Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City to Itbayat, Batanes to augment the search and rescue operations in quake-affected areas together with the Marines’ 10th Battalion Landing Team (MBLT10) of the Philippine Marines Corps, Philippine National Police, and Philippine Coast Guard.
