OCAC HOLDS BHSTP TO PAF PERSONNEL

The Office of the Chief Air Chaplain (OCAC) headed by Colonel Roque Kim B Pedroza CHS (GSC) conducted a two (2)-day PAF-wide Basic Helping Skill Training Program (BHSTP) on September 8, 2016 at the Headquarters Service Support Group (HSSG) Multi-Purpose Hall in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City. BHSTP was designed primarily to help humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) personnel develop their spiritual aspect and enhance their skills as emergency responders.

Psychological First Aid (PFA) Training and Basic Listening Skills Workshop were conducted. Additionally, a seminar workshop on stress management techniques, which are useful in times of disasters and calamities, was carried out. Dr Maria Teresa Gustilo-Villamor of the Makati Medical Center shared her knowledge in dealing with psycho-emotional effects brought about by disasters and calamities to rescued victims.

Around 110 participants comprised of personnel from 250th Presidential Airlift Wing, 520th Air Base Wing, HSSG, 950thCommunications Electronics and Information Systems Group, 900th Air Force Weather Group, 505th Search and Rescue Group, 300th AISG, Air Force Special Service Group, 1301st Dental Dispensary, Air Force Finance Center, Air Force General Hospital, Personnel Management Center and 720th Security Operations Group attended the BHSTP.

The activity is in line with the PAF Spiritual and Pastoral 2022, a strategic plan initiated by the OCAC that envisions spirituality and morally transformed Air Force personnel by 2022 and beyond.
