Air Sentinels Provides Humanitarian Assistance And Disaster Response To Affected Families Due To Typhoon "VINTA" AND "AGATON" In response to typhoons Vinta and Agaton that hit the southern tip of Palawan during the Yuletide Season, the Joint Task Force Integrated Crisis Action and Response To Emergencies (JTF I-CARE), composed of the Maritime Task Group, Ground Task Group, and Joint Air Task Group from different units of Western Command and components from other government agencies was activated.

As member-unit of JTF I-CARE, the Air Sentinels of Tactical Operations Wing West (formerly known as 570th Composite Tactical Wing) in Antonio Bautista Air Base, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan immediately helped provide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Operations to residents of affected municipalities particularly Mangsee Island and Balabac, Palawan.

Since its activation, the Philippine Air Force utilized three aircraft which conducted intelligence surveillance reconnaissance mission, maritime patrol, disaster rescue and relief operations and transport of support personnel including on-scene visits of area Commanders and Officials from the government of Palawan.

Not yet fully recovered from the aftermath of TS “Vinta”, another Tropical Depression (TD) entered Palawan mainland the day after New Year 2018 that proved the resiliency of the Unit in responding to such challenging situations.

Truly, in these kind of situations, the core value of service above-self of every airman is unquestionable.
