With its commitment to produce quality and higher standard of workmanship, the 355th Aviation Engineer Wing joined with the Technical Education and Skills Development Administration (TESDA) during the Formal Opening Ceremony of the Tile Setting NC II under the Training for Work and Scholarship Program of TESDA in cooperation with the Kirkland Skills Center Corporation on August 20, 2018 at 355th AEW Multi-Purpose Building, Basa Air Base, Floridablanca in Pampanga.

BRIGADIER GENERAL JOSELITO F MACLAN AFP, the Wing Commander of 355th AEW together with Mr. Abjoy Lesaca, the representative of Mr. Rolando V. Dela Torre, District Director of Pasay-Makati TESDA and Mrs. Judith Corpuz, the Assessment Center Manager of Kirkland Skills Center Corporation graced the occasion.

The training aims to provide the students with knowledge, skills and desirable work attitude pertinent to correct procedures and approaches in accordance to standard tile setting methodologies that enable them to lay and repair floor/wall tiles, tile corners and curved surfaces.

The activity has three (3) prone approaches. First, to increase its reduced vertical construction capability brought about by the retirement and reassignment of personnel due to promotion. Second, to put the Unit in a much better footing in preparation for the forthcoming CY-2019 transition from the current Obligation to a much stricter CY-2019 Cash Based Appropriation and lastly, to solve our recurring problem brought about by the early departure of our retiring personnel to pursue the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) by advancing the TESDA training to maximize the utilization skilled personnel until their actual retirement date.

A total of fifty-six (56) personnel from 355th AEW, twenty-one (21) students coming from other different PAF Units like AETDC, ADC, 5th FW, 15th SW, 420th SW, 520th ABW, 580th ACWW, 710th SPOW, TOWSOL, and OAFCE attended the said free training activity by the Kirkland Skills Center Corporation.

More so, BGEN MACLAN inspired everyone and quoted the message by Orison Swett Marden: "The quality of your work, in the long run, is the deciding factor on how much your services are valued by the world".

The Tile Setting NC II is an eleven (11) days or a total of eighty-two (82) hours activity which culminated on August 31, 2018.
