PAF joins Metro Manila Quake Drill

16 July 2017

It always pays to be ready in times of calamities and disasters.

As part of its preparation for the 7.2 magnitude earthquake scenario, hundreds of Philippine Air Force (PAF) personnel composed of officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian employees have flocked to the Protacio Park in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, on Friday afternoon, July 14, to actively take part in the earthquake drill.

When the one-minute alarm sounded, personnel have performed the "duck, cover, and hold" then moved towards the designated evacuation area to ensure their safety. They brought with them their grab bags containing food, clothes, medicine, first aid and survival kit.

The PAF's participation is line with the 3rd Metro Manila Shake Drill (MMSD) 2017 conducted by the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) and Metro Manila Development Authority.

Apart from its participation in the earthquake drill, the PAF also took part in conducting search, rescue, and retrieval operations with MMDRRMC within Metro Manila which aimed to test, evaluate, and validate PAF Support Plan to AFP's Contingency Plan "PAGLIGTAS."
