Airlifters Host Human Rights Seminar 2017

22 June 2017

The 220th Airlift Wing through the 228th Transport Crew and Training Squadron “Trainers” facilitated the conduct of the annual human rights seminar-workshop for selected personnel at the newly constructed Flight Simulator building of 220th AW in Cebu from June 22 to 23, 2017.

Despite the very hectic schedules in connection with the ongoing airlift operations, similar activities such as this will still be prioritized. This is part of the Air Force's continued advocacy on respect to human rights, most especially in the conduct of its military-related operations against lawless elements or even during peacetime. For many years, this seminar has been part of the mandatory training programs of all Air Force units, a gesture of collective support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ effort in promoting to its personnel the value of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.

Cebu Regional Director of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), Attorney Arvin A Odron, was invited to lead the conduct of the lectures and practical applications.

The Trainers squadron has long been forming this kind of program in partnership with the CHR Regional Office. This serves as a good opportunity to remind all airlifters of their commitment to uphold human rights at the highest standards.
