LT GEN KINTANAR is PAF's New Commanding General

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) welcomed Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard R Kintanar Jr AFP as its new pilot-in-command replacing Lieutenant General Edgar R Fallorina AFP during the Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony conducted on Tuesday afternoon, October 24, at the Haribon Hangar, Clark Air Base, Pampanga, with the Commander-in-Chief, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, as presiding officer.

As he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56, Lieutenant General Fallorina, a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Matikas” Class of 1983, will pass on the command and leadership of the PAF to Lieutenant General Kintanar Jr.

The new Commanding General is a member of PMA “Sandiwa” Class of 1985.

Before he was named as new PAF Commanding General a day before the turnover, Lieutenant General Kintanar Jr rendered very laudable service while serving in numerous significant positions, such as Commander of Western Command; Deputy Commander and eventually Commander of Air Education, Training and Doctrine Command; Chief of Air Staff of the PAF; Wing Commander of 15th Strike Wing; Chief of the Office of Special Studies of the PAF; Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Plans, OA-5; Secretary of Air Staff of the PAF; and Group Commander of 550th Air Base Group.

As the incoming CG of the PAF, Lieutenant General Kintanar Jr formulated the new command framework, BLUE TEAM at TOP SPEED for Peace and Resilient Development.

BLUE for

PAF's code for people’s defender of peace, a partner in development, and an agent for achieving the greater good.

TEAM for

-transformed in capabilities

-empowered in human resources,

-agile, flexible and integrated in operations

-mission credible



- leveraging on technologies and innovation to transform the force

- organizational capital enhancement for mission impact

- enhance personal values centered on character development

- urgency for smart basing and service and support systems

- build on the strength of the air force in proactive programming and resource management

- attainment of education and training excellence

- effective leadership in nurturing strategic culture

- render mandatory doctrinal renewal and knowledge management

As he relinquished his post, Lieutenant General Fallorina feels confident knowing that his successor, Lieutenant General Kintanar Jr will now take the lead.

"As I leave the service, I am assured that I am leaving behind a better PAF, but one that still requires so much to be done. I am confident that Lieutenant General Kintanar Jr, the new Commanding General, PAF, is very much competent and ready to take on the challenge," the outgoing CG said.

He also added that he is happy to retire knowing that he did his best and made a difference for the Air Force.
