Security forces specialists from the Philippine Air Force's 540th Air Base Group engaged in extensive training on law enforcement and combat skills alongside their United States Air Force counterparts on April 15, 2024, at Basa Air Base in Pampanga. This training, part of Cope Thunder PH 24-1, honed personnel from both air forces on law enforcement techniques and combat tactics, particularly focusing on proper stance, baton maneuvers, and effective methods for disengaging from threats.

The Philippine Air Force and other government agencies, stood alongside veterans, widows, and their families at the culminating Sunset Ceremony of the Philippine Veterans Week held on April 11, 2024, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Libingan ng mga Bayani, Taguig City.

The Sunset Ceremony is a tradition that brings together the Filipino people to remember the heroism of World War II veterans. Family members and relatives share stories and reflections on how these sacrifices impacted their lives.

FLIGHT INTEGRATION TRAINING ENHANCES PAF AND USAF INTEROPERABILITY IN COPE THUNDER PH 24-1

The Philippines and United States Air Forces conducted Basic Fighter Maneuvers (BFM) as part of the Cope Thunder Philippines 24-1 on April 11, 2024, at Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

Utilizing the PAF's FA-50 and the USAF's F-16, the forces engaged in Flight Integration Training, aimed at enhancing pilot capabilities in aerial combat scenarios through tactical maneuvers and techniques.

CGPAF LEADS PAF IN REMEMBERING FILIPINO HEROES' SACRIFICE

The Philippine Air Force held a flag-raising ceremony on April 8, 2024, in commemoration of the Filipino Veterans Week and the Day of Valor at the New Grandstand, CJVAB, Pasay City. 

The Commanding General, PAF, LTGEN STEPHEN P PARREÑO PAF, presided over the ceremony. He reminded all personnel of the unwavering courage and selfless devotion of Filipino heroes, who fought for the freedom that the PAF is now entrusted to uphold.

PRIORITIZING MENTAL HEALTH

Over 400 personnel of the Philippine Air Force, accompanied by their spouses, participated in the 2-day Mental Resilience Training held by In Touch Community Services Inc. at Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

Concluding the training on April 5, 2024, the Commanding General, PAF, LTGEN STEPHEN P PARREÑO PAF, reminded the Officers, Enlisted Personnel, and Civilian Human Resources, of the importance of cultivating the well-being and resilience of all personnel in the organization.

COPE THUNDER PH 2024 KICKS OFF, STRENGTHENING PH-US DEFENSE TIES

The Philippines and United States Air Forces officially commenced the first iteration of the Cope Thunder-Philippines 2024 (CT PH 24-1) today, April 8, 2024, at Basa Air Base in Floridablanca, Pampanga.

This bilateral military exercise, taking place in the Northern Luzon Intensive Military Training Area, Basa Air Base, and Brigadier General Benito N Ebuen Air Base until April 19, involves approximately 700 airmen from various PAF Units and USAF.

PH, US AIR FORCES LEADERS MEET FOR BILATERAL TALKS

The Acting Vice Commander of the Philippine Air Force, Maj. Gen. Aristotle D. Gonzalez PAF, met with Gen. David W. Allvin, Chief of Staff of the US Air Force, at the Philippine Air Force Headquarters in Pasay City on April 5, 2024.

During the visit, matters particularly on bolstering bilateral cooperation and mutual trust between the two air forces were discussed. They likewise reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening defense and military relations, with a focus on expanding collaborative efforts in areas such as regular training and joint exercises.

PAF JOINS THE NATION IN COMMEMORATING FILIPINO SOLDIERS' AND VETERANS' HEROISM

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) joined the nation in commemorating the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan and Philippine Veterans Week on April 5, 2024.

The PAF, represented by MGEN RAMON J GUIANG PAF, Commander of Air Education, Training and Doctrine Command, attended the sunrise and wreath-laying ceremony at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, paying tribute to the fallen Filipino and American heroes of World War II.

PAF WOMEN OFFICERS FORMALLY RECEIVE OWLENS AWARDS

Four exceptional women officers of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) were formally recognized at the Outstanding Women in Law Enforcement and National Security (OWLENS) Awards ceremony held on March 21, 2024, at the Quezon City Sports Complex. The ceremony was graced by Hon. Benjamin Abalos, Jr., Secretary of Interior and Local Government as the guest of honor.

During the ceremony, Col Ann Marie T Gerodiaz PAF (GSC), Ltc Cynthia Forteza-Guinto PAF, Maj Aileen S Zara PAF, and 1Lt Lei Vanette D Alangui PAF received their individual award. 

COMBATING BENGUET FOREST FIRE THROUGH CLOUD SEEDING OPERATION

Deploying a Philippine Air Force LC-210 aircraft, the 900th Air Force Weather Group successfully dispensed 1,200 kilograms of salt in 48 sacks over Benguet.

This ongoing cloud seeding operation, which started on March 2, 2024, aims to assist in containing the forest fire in the province, complementing the heli-bucket operations of the 505th Search and Rescue Group.
