The Armed Forces of the Philippines through the Philippine Air Force conducted the Ultimate ROTC Challenge 2019 Part 1 last 05-07 July 2019 at Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga. It was hosted by the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) under the leadership of BGEN ROLANDO S ACOP AFP. The event involves different AFP Major Services, with 56 ROTC Cadets from the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Philippine Navy (PN) and Philippine Army (PA) together with the Cadets from Philippine Marine Merchant Academy (PMMA) and 20 cadets from Maritime Academy of Asia in the Pacific (MAAP). For the first time, the challenge participated by a foreign contingent with 33 US Army ROTC Cadets from the different Colleges and Universities in the United States of America headed by COL THOMAS GALLI US Army.

The said event was composed of activities and scenarios such as the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response, First Aid Scenario, Obstacle Course with assembly and disassembly of firearms such as Caliber .45 and M16 rifle. Likewise, it also includes marksmanship and endurance firing.

This year’s ROTC Challenge was quite different from the previous. The host unit changed the teams through combining the different contingents. It was not purely considered a competition of different units since it focused building the sense of camaraderie and discipline to promote patriotism among the ROTC Cadets, said by BGEN ACOP AFP, the Commander, AFRC.

Among the nine teams that tried their best to win the title of the Ultimate ROTC Challenge 2019 Part 1 Champion, Team ANDREWS was held victor followed by Team ATIENZA as the 1st Runner Up and Team VILLAMOR as the 2nd Runner Up. The activity was successfully culminated with no untoward accidents or incidents happened and importantly it built rapport between the contingents and their foreign counter parts.
