The IOX “DAGIT” is an annual joint exercise between the two major services of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) which started since 2007. It aims to improve the PAF-PN’s capacity in joint maritime operations to support the Internal Security Operations (ISO) and Territorial Defense Operations (TDO), and improve areas of interoperability and joint training opportunities.

This year’s exercise will be participated by the Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG) of the AFP that will focus on casualty evacuation (CASEVAC) and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) operations.

The IOX will be carried out in three phases: Phase I (the Preparation Phase) that will commence on October 17 to 21; Phase II (the Exercise Phase) on October 24 to 27; and Phase III (the Termination Phase) on October 28. The three phases will include subject matter expertise exchange (SMEE), practical exercises/dry run, and field training exercise (FTX).

The joint training activity aims to strengthen relationship, interoperability and enhance mutual cooperation between the PAF and PN as well as to foster understanding and camaraderie. It is also a venue for PAF and PN to test, validate, enhance and evaluate combined/respective doctrines, techniques, tactics and procedures (TTPs) for an effective and rapid response if the need arises.
