PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE DISASTER RESPONSE TASK UNITS AND WATER SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS IN ACTION

The Philippine Air Force activated its Disaster Response Task Units (DRTU) and conducted Search and Rescue to stranded families in the most affected communities in the National Capital Region and CALABARZON. 

The 15th Strike Wing deployed its DRTU teams and rescued families including seven (7) children who were trapped in their houses in Marikina City on November 12, 2020. Meanwhile, another DRTU team utilized its military trucks in transporting a total of 48 stranded individuals due to the high water level at the Ylang-Ylang River in Noveleta, Cavite.

On a different area, the 505th Search and Rescue Group deployed its Water Search and Rescue Operations Teams while the 520th Air Base Wing personnel deployed its DRTU using rubber boats and rescued civilians including a Person with Disability who were trapped in their houses in Marikina City. An infant and a Senior Citizen were also rescued in their flooded houses at San Jose and Rodriguez in Rizal respectively.

Also, the 710th Special Operations Wing conducted clearing operations at Nasugbu, Tuy, Balayan, Lian in Batangas and Brgy. Pagkilatan in Batangas City. They also conducted rescue operations in search of a reported missing individual in Malvar, Batangas. Likewise, DRTU personnel were also deployed and conducted rescue operations in the flooded areas in Ilagan, Isabela.

The Air Education, Training and Doctrine Command also conducted Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response operations in San Mateo, Rizal and Marikina City. 

As of this writing, ongoing rescue and relief missions are being pursued to save families from the flooding brought by Typhoon “Ulysses”.
