PAF Joins In ADAS 2016, Displays Its Capabilities On ISO, HADR, And TD

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) participated in the only Defense, Security and Disaster Management Exhibition in the Philippines on September 28 to 30, 2016, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City. Also known as Asian Defense and Security (ADAS) 2016, this year’s show has attracted 140 exhibitors from 25 countries showcasing the latest cutting edge equipment and technologies.

The PAF set up display booths and prepared audio visual presentations of selected PAF units/offices that reflected the new major thrusts of the PAF anchored on the advocacy of the Commander-in-Chief in support to Internal Security Operations (ISO), Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR), and Territorial Defense (TD).

Apart from the audio visual presentations, the 710th Special Operations Wing (SPOW) displayed its capability equipment during the exhibit. Meanwhile, the 505th Search and Rescue Group (SRG) presented its search and rescue (SAR) equipment while the Air Defense Wing (ADW) provided a mock-up simulator. Strategic audio visual presentations of different PAF units, as well as, photo stand display were also shown by the Air Force Strategic Management Office (AFSMO) and Public Information Office (PIO). More so, members of the different Technical Working Groups under the PAF Modernization Programs were invited to participate during the event.

Also, anchoring the international lineup are bellwether companies such as the Airbus Defence and Space, ASELSAN, Bell Helicopter, Brahmos Aerospace, DuPont, ELBIT, Israel Aerospace Industry, Kia Motors, KAI, Leonardo, MBDA, MKU, RAFAEL, SAAB and HARRIS, to name but a few.

Aside from the Philippines, it is worthy to note that this year’s exhibit featured other six (6) national and group country pavilions from Germany, Indonesia, Israel, Korea, Singapore and the USA.

During the inaugural on Wednesday morning, September 28, Defense Secretary Delfin N Lorenzana addressed the opening ceremony and later visited the exhibition together with the PAF Commanding General, Lieutenant General Edgar R Fallorina; PAF Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Salvador Melchor Mison Jr.; Philippine Army Commanding General, Lieutenant General Eduardo M Año; Philippine Navy Western Command Chief, Rear Admiral Ronald Joseph Mercado; and PNP Research and Development Director Rene D Ong.

The ADAS 2016 was organized by APAC Expo Pte Ltd. The activity aimed to gather defense and security companies, as well as, experts around the globe to showcase the latest state-of-the-art defense, security, and disaster risk reduction-related equipment and technologies.
