The aftermath of typhoon “Ulysses” has yet again highlighted the PAF's solemn commitment in serving the Filipino People. Through the “Tulong Bayanihan 2” advocacy the PAF seized the Golden Hour to provide Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) to affected communities all over Central and Southern Luzon and NCR.

The 207th Tactical Helicopter Squadron (THS) deployed its Bell-412 aircraft and conducted Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) over Marikina City and Montalban and Taytay in Rizal to assess the extent of damage after the typhoon wreaked havoc on November 12, 2020.

Onboard the aircraft was the Secretary of National Defense, Delfin N Lorenzana; Commanding General, PAF, LTGEN ALLEN T PAREDES PAF; and the Executive Director of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, Usec. Ricardo B Jalad.

Meanwhile, simultaneous air operations were conducted by the Philippine Air Force to survey the areas affected and support HADR operations.

One (1) UH-1H and one (1) Huey II conducted aerial survey over Calaguas Island and Daet in Camarines Norte as well as in neighboring areas of Camarines Sur. While a Bell-205 aircraft covered the areas in Legazpi City, Albay.

Two (2) UH-1H from the 207th THS conducted Search and Rescue over areas of Rodriguez in Rizal. The 505th Search and Rescue Group also deployed four (4) Water Search and Rescue Teams in Brgy San Jose, Rodriguez, Rizal to rescue trapped residents. A total of 275 civilians were rescued which included, infants, children, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens.

Another two (2) UH-1H of the 207th THS are on standby to help in RDANA operations as well as rescue and relief in the different affected communities.

PAF teams and air assets continue to be on full alert status to provide rapid response and assistance to residents in the most affected areas.
