PAF CONDUCTS SEARCH AND RESCUE CHALLENGE 2019

The Philippine Air Force successfully conducted the PAF SAR Challenge 2019 from 21 to 24, 2019 at Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga and at Subic in Zambales. The Air Force Inspector General, MGEN SAMUEL G GOTICO AFP opened the competition while the Chief of Air Staff, MGEN PELAGIO R VALENZUELA AFP graced the closing ceremony on May 24, 2019 at the Air Force City Officers Clubhouse, Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City in Pampanga.

PAF SAR Challenge 2019 was participated by the different Disaster Response Tasked Unit (DRTU) of nine (9) PAF Major Bases and 580th Aircraft Control and Warning Wing located at Wallace Air Station, San Fernando in La Union.

The activity was divided into three (3) phases. Phase 1 was the academic phase, Phase 2 was focused on tsunami scenario and Phase 3 was the earthquake scenario. Each DRTU demonstrated the air, water, and land Disaster Response capabilities. The judges/raters evaluated the SAR procedures, doctrines, practices, and knowledge’s of the participants in the theoretical aspects of SAR operations and assess the PAF DRTUs cohesiveness as a team in responding to disasters/calamities. The participants were judge according to promptness in responding to a call and appropriate accuracy of execution.

Scenarios during the said activity was the possible water and land incidents caused by an earthquake.
