MAJOR GENERAL ALLEN T PAREDES AFP takes over as the 37th Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force at the Change of Command Ceremony held at the PAF Multi-Purpose Gymnasium, Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City on January 16, 2020, with the Commander-in-Chief, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte as Presiding Officer.
In his speech, MGEN PAREDES commits to continue the journey as the new Pilot-in-Command of the Philippine Air Force.
“I am committed to continue the path, to be a father and friend to all of you. I will value and listen to you, bring out the best in you, defend and grow with you through thick and thin. With InSTEP as our core values, I believe that our job also requires us to exemplify three virtues, DIWA, GALING, AT MALASAKIT. This will further our resolve to have a corruption-free and drug-free air force. As your pilot in command, join me as we continue the journey of the Philippine Air Force.”
Guided by the command thrust, “Take the LEAD, Soar as ONE”. To fulfill these, all Air Force leaders must Lead to motivate, capacitate and empower airmen; Enable sustainment and preservation of force capabilities; Attain combat power with sharpened capabilities; and, Deliver the desired outcome for joint, combined and inter-agency operations. The PAF strives to be first on the scene to seize the golden hour in all mission areas, including Anti-Illegal Drugs Operations and Disaster and Relief Operations.
“Soar as ONE,” is about continuing our aspiration for force development and good governance. The word “ONE” is an acronym for Operationalize the Strategic Initiatives of Flight Plan 2028; Nurture a culture of innovation, safety, and excellence; and Expand the scope of stakeholder engagements.
“Take the LEAD, Soar as ONE,” is for the Air Force to rise above the challenges and adhere to the highest standard of excellence in serving God, Country, and People. These will be the two key vectors of my Command Guidance – the bridge towards our vision of a more capable and credible air force responsive to national security and development.” MGEN PAREDES said.
Meanwhile, in his retirement speech, LTGEN ROZZANO D BRIGUEZ AFP stated that the value creation that one leaves behind in the organization.
“Legacies may only last as our tour of duty ends, but the value creation we leave behind as a worker in the grand scheme of things will last the lifetime of our organization. We are only a servant of the people and a doer of our duty. Ito ang paraan natin upang magbigay ng malasakit at serbisyo sa ating kapwa Pilipino, because we owe this to them.”
On the other hand, President Duterte commended the PAF for the invaluable contributions and accomplishments in the areas of internal security, operations, disaster response as well as in support of security and peacekeeping efforts.
