The Philippine Air Force successfully conducted the Integrated Air Operations System (IAOS) Simulation Exercise at Crow Valley Gunnery Range in Col Ernesto Rabina Air Base, Capas, Tarlac on October 29, 2018.
The scenario proper was officially started at exactly 9 o’clock in the morning with MGEN JOSE P TANJUAN JR AFP, the Vice Commander, PAF and other key Officers of the PAF watching the live streaming of the activity in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City. Commanders of different Unified Commands were also present to witness the Simulation Exercise. Meanwhile, the Commander, Air Defense Command, MGEN ANTONIO RAMON ANTONIO A LIM AFP was present inside the Command Center in CERAB.
The scenario started when the Philippine Forward Air Controller (PFAC) Special Operations Team was engaged in a firefight with the terrorist group while the FA-50PH and the AW-109 pre-positioned in their respective initial points. Simultaneously, the C-208 aircraft provided ISR coverage to the designated war zone. After which, the PFAC cleared the area for the FA-50PH and AW-109 to engage the enemy position and delivered fire support.
Right after neutralizing the high valued target, the PFAC cleared the area and one casualty from the friendly forces was evacuated by the 505th Search and Rescue Group utilizing the Huey 2 helicopter of the PAF.
The activity aimed to enhance the projection of air power to identify, evaluate, and address the gaps of Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) particularly in communications, precision targeting, and command and control.
The Units involved during the said activity were the 15th Strike Wing; 5th Fighter Wing; 300th Air Intelligence and Security Wing; 505th Search and Rescue Group; and the 950th Communications, Electronics, and Information Systems Group.
Prior to the activity, a rehearsal was also conducted last October 27, 2018 with LTGEN GALILEO GERARD R KINTANAR JR AFP, the Commanding General, PAF overseeing the preparations.
