At the onset of the COVID-19, the demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) has increased. In support of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) was tapped to utilize its C-130 fleet to transport the much-needed PPEs and medical supplies.

From March 31 to April 19, 2020, the Philippine Air Force C-130 has transported a total of 89,755.36kgs of government-procured PPEs from Xiamen International Airport in China to Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. The following PPEs were composed of sterile and disposable protective suits, medical goggles, KN95 masks, surgical masks, medical gloves, protective gowns, head covers, surgical caps, and shoe covers.

The PAF is currently on its 9th tranche of continuous flights until the completion of the one million sets of PPEs.

As a standard operating procedure, PAF medical teams and the Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear Explosives personnel from 710th Special Operations Wing were present during the arrival of the PAF C-130, ensuring that all cargoes and personnel present during the said activity underwent preventive disinfection and decontamination process.

The pilots and crew dedicated all their skills and efforts to ensure that the much needed medical supplies and other essential equipment are successfully transported. Undoubtedly, their sacrifices are a clear manifestation that the welfare of the Filipinos is their first priority.
