AFP Welcomes Home UN Peacekeepers from Haiti

The Commanding General, Philippine Air Force, Lt Gen Edgar R Fallorina AFP, together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff, General Ricardo R Visaya, and senior AFP officers welcomed the 19th Philippine Contingent to Haiti (PCH) at General Headquarters Canopy in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City on July 15, 2016 with the traditional handshaking with the PCH members. The peacekeeping contingent from Haiti composed of PAF airmen and airwomen were deployed to Haiti on July 7, 2015 for a one-year UN peacekeeping mission. The contingent led by Col Vincent Incognito PAF came home, three days ago last July 12, 2016. The members went through the routine quarantine at V-Luna hospital before they were presented to the welcoming AFP leadership today. They were also formally awarded with the UN Service Medal recognition of their peacekeeping service. In his speech, the CG, PAF expressed his deepest gratitude to all members of the 19th PCH for exhibiting discipline, dedication and commitment at the highest level during their deployment. Likewise, he extended his warmest felicitations to the AFP Peace Keeping Operations Center headed by Col Eugenio Hernandez and to the families of the 19th PCH for showing patience, support, understanding and love during their loved ones absence. Peacekeeping operation is the AFP's commitment to the United Nations in pursuit of international peace and solidarity, delivery of humanitarian relief, alleviation of human suffering due to conflict, respect to rule of law and protection of human rights.
