The Philippine Air Force’s 3rd Air Division hosted the venue of the football match between the Loyola-Meralco Sparks Football Club headed by James Younghusband and Green Archers United Football Club led by Chieffy Caligdong held on Friday afternoon, September 30, 2016, at Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) Football Field in EAAB, Zamboanga City.

The activity dubbed as “Football for Peace” was in line with the city's Fiesta Hermosa Celebration, popularly known as “Fiesta Pilar.” Football for Peace was conceptualized way back in 2011 as an advocacy event in partnership with the City Government of Zamboanga and Philippine Marine Corps to give hope to kids in conflict-stricken areas of the country.

During the friendly match, the Loyola-Meralco Sparks FC defeated the Green Archers United FC in 2-1.

The two teams also provided a football clinic on the following day, October 1, for 200 kids coming from different areas in Zamboanga City. The clinic was used not only to give the kids avenues to develop their abilities in sports but also enhanced their social skills.
