2nd Air Division Commander Honored At Relinquishment Of Command And Retirement Ceremony

The Commander of 2nd Air Division, Major General Julius Ceasar M Guillermo AFP, bowed out of active service after serving the Philippine Air Force for almost 38 fruitful years. A Relinquishment of Command and Retirement Ceremony marked his finale career at the Brigadier General Benito N Ebuen Air Base (BGBNEAB) grandstand in Mactan, Cebu on July 20, 2016 with the Commanding General, PAF Lt Gen Edgar R Fallorina AFP, as the Guest of Honor.

In his speech, MGen Guillermo narrated his military life starting with his experience as a PMA cadet and up to the time he became the 2AD Commander. He expressed his deepest love and gratitude to all the people who helped him during his military career and most especially to his family who served as an inspiration throughout his journey.

During the ceremony, a Philippine flag, personal flag, command plaque, plaque of honorable service, replica cheque and other mementos were given to MGen Guillermo.

During his speech, the CG, PAF praised MGen Guillermo for his outstanding performance and achievements. He then described him as a silent, hardworking, a very professional, and hands-on leader. The CG, PAF also likened MGen Guillermo to a “clock-builder “who always leaves a legacy behind every unit he was assigned to. Attributing some of the PAF’s accomplishments to selfless service, the CG, PAF thanked MGen Guillermo for “we are more than equipped to be the JET Force we are aspiring to be for greater peace and security, and we are more than prepared for the challenges of the future.”

Prior to this retirement, MGen Guillermo held positions as the Commander of 1st Air Division; Commander of Air Logistics Command; Deputy Commander of 1st Air Division; Wing Commander of 420th Supply Wing; Assistant Chief of Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, J4 and many other significant positions. He was both a fixed-wing and rotary pilot with a command pilot badge.

MGen Guillermo was also a recipient of numerous awards and decorations, some of which are, the PAF Gold Wings, Outstanding Achievement Medal, Gold Cross Medal, Distinguished Service Star, Distinguished Graduate Award, Silver Wing Medal, Bronze Cross Medal, Distinguished Aviation Cross, 20 Military Merit Medal, 5 Military Commendation medals and various letters of commendations and appreciations.

MGen Guillermo is also a loving husband to Maria Victoria G Guillermo and a devoted father to Kurt Julius, Krystel Marie and Maria Angela. He relinquished his post to his Deputy, BGen Dino Diño PAF as acting Commander, 2nd Air Division.
