March is declared as the Fire Prevention Month by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A because of the alarming increase of fire incidents in the country during this particular period. In observance to the said proclamation, the Air Commandos of the 206th Tactical Helicopter Squadron took an active part during the conduct of a Fire Prevention and Protection Seminar, which was spearheaded by the Tactical Operations Command (TOC) in Edwin Andrews Air Base, Zamboanga City, last 22 February 2019.
The seminar, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire and Protection – Zamboanga, aimed to provide knowledge, awareness, and reminders among personnel with regard to fire hazards on respective workplaces, chemistry of fire, and other fire safety and prevention strategies. Likewise, its purpose is to educate personnel on how to respond and deliver safety measures in order to eliminate further injuries and casualties.
The 206THS believes that every Air Commando needs to acquire proper knowledge on effective fire prevention and response because, as members of the armed forces, military personnel are also called to operate in times of fire emergency. To be able to extend help, one must be well-educated and aware on how to react and respond during such incidents, which is why the personnel of 206THS actively participated during the conduct of the seminar.
The Air Commandos continue to enhance their skills by participating and engaging in such activities to be ready to relentlessly perform their commitment of providing quality service to the country and to help in saving the lives of their fellowmen in times of need.
