Air Force Increases Its Fleet Of Fighting Eagles With The Arrival Of Two More Jets

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) now has 10 FA-50PH “Fighting Eagle” Fighter/Surface Attack/Lead-in Fighters Trainer Aircraft (F/SA/LIFTA) in its inventory with the arrival of the two additional platforms on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017, at the Haribon Hangar, Air Force City, Clark Air Base in Pampanga.

With the expected arrival of the last batch of FA-50 jets sometime in May 2017, the delivery of PAF’s 12-jets order from the Korean Aerospace Industries (KAI), Ltd. is near completion.

Once again, the F-27 Aircrew led by MAJ VIC ROBLES PAF airlifted three patients from Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB), Zamboanga City to Air Force General Hospital in Col Jesus Villamor Air Base last April 26, 2017 to avail of follow-up, extensive, and specialized medical treatment

The safe and faster evacuation of these patients will ensure that they will be able to get the most complete diagnosis and medication in one of the most advanced Military Treatment Facilities in the Armed Forces and ultimately save their lives.

MAJ MATIENZO -First Female F-27 Instructor Pilot

The Philippine Air Force first ever female Instructor Pilot and a recipient of the highest qualification ever given to a female pilot in the F-27 type of aircraft and a record holder in the entire 220th Airlift Wing community is no other than MAJ GERALDINE ABEGAIL MATIENZO PAF.

She is the first female Pilot-in-Command of the new C-295 aircraft. Her experience and mettle inspire all female pilots in the airlifters community to take heed and follow her lead.

The 220th Airlift Wing transported a civilian patient, Mr Bonifacio Gazingan, 90 years old, from Puerto Princesa, Palawan to Manila.

Aware of the medical needs of the patient who is suffering from back pain brought about by old age, the aircrew of the C-130 aircraft led by its Pilot-in-Command Maj Jose Mari Manalo PAF together with the S-7 team from the Air Force General Hospital immediately assisted him.

Two AS211 from the 105th Fighter Training "Blackjacks" Squadron of the Philippine Air Force wowed thousands of government officials, spectators, as well as security personnel and force multipliers during the send-off ceremony held on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park, Manila. This is in connection with the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit which will be conducted on April 26 to 29, 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

Paying it forward. This was the core topic that was mooted by the alumni of the Philippine Air Force Educational Fund Incorporated (PAFEFI) who spoke before the members of the Board of Trustees and grantees during the alumni gathering held on April 21, 2017 at Villamor Air Base Officers’ Club, Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

Since its inception in 1958, the efforts of the PAFEFI have helped change the lives of hundreds of PAF dependents through education.

The first batch of civilian OJTs 2017 officially completed their training programs in 228th Transport Crew Training Squadron on April 19, 2017.

The program is integral to the Wing's personnel management in the skills development where individual knowledge and training are enhanced through actual experience and hands-on training in all phases of aircraft maintenance. It is also part of the Wing's contribution to the Civil-Military Operations of the Philippine Air Force.

The Philippine Air Force 220th (Airlifters) worked hand in hand as the FA50PH Aircraft made sorties last April 18, 2017 held at Clark Air Base.

Whether familiarization flights or air strike missions anytime the FA-50ph aircraft will conduct its sorties, the C-130s led by the Airlifters are expected to support and ferry all the ground equipment which also includes the operators and other maintenance crew.

The Vice Commander of the Philippine Air Force, Major General Conrado V Parra Jr AFP, warmly received Moniz Dos Santos, Chief of Cabinet of Legal Department of Timor Leste Ministry of Defense, as he visited the PAF on April 17, 2017 for the conduct of the exploratory talks, which will cover the presentation of the PAF of its Military Pilot Training Program Arrangement (MPTPA) for the on-the-job training of the Timorese pilots in the country.
