As the number of COVID-19 positive cases continues to rise, the Philippine Air Force remains steadfast in its mandate of securing a COVID-Free environment. Thus, all PAF Bases observe necessary preventive and decontamination measures.

All PAF bases implemented the “NO MASK, NO ENTRY” Policy wherein all personnel (civilian and military) are directed to wear masks inside the base premises and are subject to the mandatory screening protocols such as thermal scanning and disinfection. They are also required to present a gate pass in going out of each respective base, stating their present health status and destination.  All vehicles entering the base are also subject to decontamination procedures.

There are also PAF units that observe heightened preventive measures in order to prevent the spread of the virus. Personnel from 520th  Air Base Wing and 250th Presidential Airlift Wing,  both in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City conducts regular disinfection and general cleaning of their respective facilities. On the other hand, Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao initiated the disinfection and sanitation of its facilities including the PAF’s Air Ambulance (Huey II) of the 505th  Search and Rescue Group.

Aside from the use of disinfectant products, hand washing is one of the effective preventive measures to combat the spread of bacteria and viruses. Relatedly, due to the lack of ethyl alcohol in the market, the personnel from Tactical Operations Group
5 in Bicol initiated to fabricate improvised lavatories made out of recycled jet fuel drums on March 17, 2020.

Meanwhile, 250th  PAW installed lavatories and footbaths before entering the Wing
Complex to ensure the safety of the personnel from containing the virus.

Said protocols are enforced in order to strictly implement the quarantine measures. Hence, limit any unwanted exposure of PAF personnel to COVID-19.
