"Make the iron hot by striking, not strike it while it is hot.”

The rigid preparation of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) produced great results as they passed the 2-day Strategic Readiness Test (SRT) performed by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) held from August 14 to 15, 2019 in Col Jesus Villamor Air Base (CJVAB), Pasay City. This was revealed by Ms. Arrielle Tugade, ISA Senior Program Coordinator for Programs Management Unit and Ms. Gia Velando, ISA Program Coordinator for Programs Management Unit, during the Exit Briefing on August 16, 2019, at the Air Force Strategy Management Office (AFSMO) Conference Room, CJVAB. During the SRT, Ms. Tugade and Ms. Velando were joined by Dr. Abigail de Leon, ISA Training and Development Manager, in conducting the interviews. The SRT is a gateway to continue to the Third-Party Audit to be conducted by Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in September 2019.

On the first day of the SRT, ISA interviewed LTGEN ROZZANO D BRIGUEZ AFP, Commanding General, PAF. Atty. Gilbert Teodoro, Chairman of PAF Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC), was also interviewed on the same day, together with MGEN SAMUEL G GOTICO AFP, Air Force Inspector General, COL RONNIE C LAGUDA PAF (MNSA), Commander of the Air Force Research and Development Center (AFRDC), MGEN GERALD S DA-ANTON AFP, Commander, Air Defense Command (ADC), Mr. Ronald Luis Goseco, Vice-Chairman, Strategic Assessment and Review Committee, PAF MSGC and AFSMO Chief COL RONIE D PETINGLAY PAF (GSC).

In the afternoon, ISA visited the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing (PAW) for the Spot Audit. COL PABLO E RUSTRIA PAF (GSC), Wing Commander, 250th PAW welcomed ISA to his office together with MAJ CHRISTER LAWRENCE S ABASTAR PAF, Asst. Strategy Management Officer (SMO), 250th PAW. MAJ ABASTAR gave ISA a quick tour of the daily operations of the Unit. Afterwards, ISA conducted Spot Audit in 520th Air Base Wing (ABW), wherein COL MICHAEL J LORENZO PAF (MNSA), Deputy Wing Commander, 520th ABW, accommodated them inside his office. 2LT PATRICK L MUNAR, Asst. SMO, 520th ABW, gave a brief history and achievements of their own unit to ISA.

As the SRT continued on its 2nd day, the officers from Headquarters PAF Staff and Assistant Strategy Management Officers (SMO) of various Units joined ISA for the Focus Group Discussion (FGD). After a few hours, the Strategic Initiatives (SI) Champions took their turn for the FGD.

At the latter part of the day, the 505th Search and Rescue Group (SRG) experienced the ISA Spot Audit as COL JOSE BONIFACIO F CALUB PAF (GSC), Commander, 505th SRG, spared time to meet ISA joined by LTC STEPHEN JEROME C PEÑAFLORIDA PAF, Deputy Commander, 505th SRG and 1LT PAUL CHRISTIAN P SANTOS PAF, Asst. SMO, 505th SRG. Next, ISA proceeded to the 300th Air Force Intelligence and Surveillance Wing (AISW) for the Spot Audit wherein they were greeted by COL EDGAR C TORRES PAF (GSC), Deputy Wing Commander, 300th AISW, MAJ BRYAN B BROTONEL PAF, Squadron Commander, 307th Air Intelligence Training Squadron, 300th AISW, MAJ DENNIS G TAGUINOD PAF, Asst. Chief, Safety Office, 300th AISW and CPT MARVIN R YBAÑEZ PAF, Asst. SMO, 300th AISW.
