BASA AIR BASE, FLORIDABLANCA, PAMPANGA- The Philippine Air Force (PAF) conferred awards to the personnel of units stationed at Basa Air Base (BAB), Floridablanca, Pampanga for various accomplishments from 2019 until the present.
The Commanding General, PAF, LTGEN ALLEN T PAREDES PAF, personally conferred the awards to said Airmen as part of the Christmas Visit of CG, PAF to BAB. For personnel of the 355th Aviation Engineer Wing (355th AEW), the following awards were conferred:
- Chief of Staff Commendation Medal and Ribbon to COL GERARDO M ZAMUDIO JR PAF (MNSA) et al for meritorious and invaluable contributions to socio-economic development and non-combat activities as 355th AEW personnel who exceptionally provided general engineering support to the PAF, AFP and contributed to national development programs of the government.
- Martial Law Citation Badge to MAJ GEORGE F ABSALON PAF et al for honorable services rendered as PAF personnel during the implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao from 23 May 2017 to 31 December 2019.
- Sagisag ng Ulirang Kawal to 1LT ARGIE CLARENCE C TORRALBA PAF et al for the distinguished and conspicuous performance of non-military activities and community development programs as members of AFP Joint Task Group Taal who participated in disaster relief and rehabilitation operations in the Province of Batangas as a result of the Taal Volcano eruption on January 2020.
Relatedly, the PAF also conferred the award of Gawad sa Kaunlaran to LTC ABRAHAM G GEMORA PAF (GSC) et al for meritorious and invaluable achievements as 355th AEW personnel who constructed Emergency Quarantine Facilities in various areas in Luzon in line with the Covid-19 efforts of the government.
The conferment of awards by PAF leadership to its Airmen is part of a cherished military tradition that serves to recognize military personnel for their deep sense of responsibility, devotion to duty, and selfless service despite the risk to life. Relatedly, the awards conferred to 355th AEW personnel serve as a testament to their exceptional performance of duty in providing general engineering support to the PAF and AFP as well as participating in disaster response efforts and contributing to endeavors towards genuine peace and national development.
