The Philippine Air Force Men’s Volleyball Team, after 2 consecutive victories against Cignal, took the Championship title of Spikes Turf Season 2 Open Conference last July 13, 2016 at the Philippine Sports Complex Ultra in Pasig City.
The Men’s Volleyball conference opened last May 2016 with six teams competing for the championship title. The PAF Jet Spikers reached the finals and finished off their opponent with winning scores of 25-19, 25-17, 28-26 in Game 2 to capture the team’s breakthrough crown.
The following PAF Men’s players were also awarded with the following recognition:
Final Most Valuable Player (MVP)- Fausi Esmael
Best Setter- A2C Jessy Lopez
Best opposite Setter- A2C Rodolfo Labrador PAF
Best outside Hitter- Fausi Esmael
Meanwhile after competing against seven other teams before reaching the finals, the Women’s Volleyball Team, also known as the “Lady Jet Spikers”, placed 2nd in the finals game of the 13th Shakey's V-league Open Conference. Our Lady Jet Spikers lost the crucial 3rd decision game against the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors on July 18, 2016 with the scores of 29-27, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19. It was a breathtaking smash between the two female teams. The PAF Lady Jet Spikers won in game 1 while the Pocari Lady Warriors made a comeback in game 2, thus the game 3 decision match. Nevertheless, the PAF is proud of the achievement of its Lady Jet Spikers and for the determination and hard-work they have shown in the court.
AW1C Wendy Semana PAF was awarded as the 13th Shakey's V-league Open conference’s Best Setter.
