The Commanding General of Philippine Air Force (PAF), Lieutenant General Edgar R Fallorina AFP, has recognized some PAF personnel who have exemplified outstanding performance in the military service and for adhering to the PAF core values, particularly the “Excellence of InSTEP.” The presentation was made during the Flag Raising Ceremony held on October 3, 2016, at the PAF Grandstand in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.
For having been adjudged as among this year’s awardees of the Metrobank Foundation – Rotary Club Makati Metro Search for The Outstanding Philippine Soldiers (TOPS), plaques of recognition were presented to Lieutenant Colonel Oliver Alina Bañaria PAF, Executive Officer and Director for Communication of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Communication, Electronics and Information Systems, OA-6; Master Sergeant Abel Lim Idusma PAF, Group Sergeant Major of Tactical Operations Group 3, 3rd Air Division; and Technical Sergeant Andersen Daing Avellana PAF, Non-Commissioned Officer In-Charge (NCOIC) of the Armaments Branch, 463rd Avionics Armament Maintenance Squadron, 15th Strike Wing.
Now on its 17th year, the Search for TOPS has been the highest and most sought after civilian award given to military personnel who demonstrated valor, gallantry, and self-sacrifice. The 2016 TOPS awardees are composed of four (4) Officers and six (6) NCOs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. In addition, each winner will receive a cash prize worth P500,000.00 and a trophy from the Metrobank Foundation, Inc.
The CG, PAF also gave plaques of recognition to the following: P2Lt Jan Rogie Macandili PAF for his remarkable achievement as the Best International Cadet presented with Overseas Student Prize for garnering the best over-all performance in leadership, Officer qualities, and professional studies during the Initial Officer Training Course at Royal Air Force, United Kingdom; and Sergeant Rogelio Saroca Junior for his commendable performance and outstanding achievement as the top graduate during the Aerospace Propulsion Apprentice Course conducted at the Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, USA.
