The 710th Special Operations Wing personnel of the Philippine Air Force led by BGEN EDWARD L LIBAGO AFP, deployed to the frontlines in support to the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine, use improvised masks made out of recycled used plastic bottles to protect themselves against the threat of COVID-19. This initiative was carried out due to the lack of available face masks in the market at the onset of COVID-19.

These masks were also used by the personnel of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High-Yield Explosives (CBRNE) Defense Squadron who were currently stationed at Villamor Air Base, Col Ernesto Ravina Air Base, Clark Air Base, and in Capas, Tarlac to augment the checkpoints set by the PNP. The Squadron is responsible for the decontamination and disinfection of areas as well as sanitation of personnel who have been in the frontlines to protect them from the virus.

Prior to deployment, CBRNE personnel attended lectures on the prevention of COVID-19 and have implemented precautionary measures against the spread of the virus.
