COLONEL JESUS VILLAMOR AIRBASE, PASAY CITY– In the midst of challenging times brought forth by a pandemic, the Philippine Air Force (PAF) and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) find a way to stay connected and work together via video teleconference as demonstrated through the 2nd PAF-RAAF Airman-to-Airman (A2A) Talks that took place on 26 June 2020.

“As much as we want to meet and shake each other’s hands in better times, we have to adapt to the situation given to us and move forward.” Said by the Assistant Chief of Air Staff for Plans, A-5 during his opening remarks.

The Australian side is led by the Director for International Engagements of the RAAF along with the Defense Attaché to the Philippines, members of the Australian Embassy, and members of the Joint Australian Training Team.

The talks provided an avenue to develop familiarity, foster military-to-military relations, and improve bilateral cooperation. The delegation discussed several topics, ranging from career courses and training opportunities to the pandemic response and future exercises.

The PAF-RAAF A2A Talks generated many mutual interests and gave the two nations the ability to enhance the effectiveness and sustainment of international military relations through various engagement programs. Australia and the Philippines have one of the longest-standing bilateral relationships. The two Air Forces of both countries, continue to build and contribute to that long-term relationship.
