30th Commanding General, PAF

04 January 2008 – 09 January 2009

LIEUTENANT GENERAL PEDRITO SINCO CADUNGOG AFP, the 30th Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force, brings to his position as the Air Force’s top Pilot-in-Command, extensive senior command and staff experience, outstanding management skills and an outlook towards technology and innovation.

The call of a military career beckoned and he took and passed the entrance examination of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). He reported as a plebe at PMA on April 1971 and graduated four years later as a member of PMA “Makabayan” Class of 1975 and as a Second Lieutenant in the Philippine Air Force.

After graduating from the PMA, LTGEN CADUNGOG underwent Military Pilot Training and graduated as a member of the PAF Flying School Class of 1976B. Thereafter, he became a flight instructor from 1977 to 1981 where he honed his flying, teaching, leadership, and managerial skills.

From 1981 to 2003, LTGEN CADUNGOG saw extensive service in field and staff assignments all over the country. His various assignments broadened his understanding of the Air Force and prepared him for high leadership positions as these gave him the opportunity to experience first hand the intricacies of field and staff duties as well as the exercise of command, leadership, management and mentorship at various levels.

LTGEN CADUNGOG’s professional advancement was due in no small measure to a thorough academic preparation which was a product of his military and civilian education. He was one of a select few Filipino officers to finish his Command and General Staff Course abroad which he took up at the Escuela Superior del Aire, Ejercito del Aire in Madrid, Spain from August 1997 to July 1998. In his civilian education, he earned a Masters Degree in Management in 1994 at the Asian Institute of Management.

His ascent to the top Air Force leadership is marked by milestones in various positions of major responsibility such as Wing Commander of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) and as Commander of the Air Education and Training Command where he orchestrated the initialization into the Air Force culture of military pilot trainees and professional military education.

Prior to assuming the post of Commanding General, he occupied the third highest post in the Armed Forces of the Philippines as The Deputy Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines.

On January 4, 2008, he became the 30th Commanding General of the PAF. He believes that the starting point of every organization is the individual whose quality will reflect that of the longer whole. Thus the first element of his command framework is to build the foundations through the Teaming up for Excellence in Accomplishing the Mission of the Air Force (T.E.A.M. Air Force) that subscribes to the ideals of core values, integrity, service above self, teamwork, excellence in everything we do and professionalism. This framework was substantiated by the following thrusts such as human resource development; capability, material and technology development; doctrine development; base and support systems development; force restructuring and organizational development; unit readiness and operational effectiveness.

LT GEN CADUNGOG is happily married to an accomplished educator and entrepreneur, the former Angeli Cuison and they are blessed with two (2) children, Marriane and Jerichoe.
