LT GEN NICASIO P RODRIGUEZ JR AFP was born in San Fernando, La Union on 26 December 1939.
He finished his primary education at San Juan Elementary School, La Union in 1951 and his secondary education at La Union High School in 1955. A consistent honor graduate, he enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering at the University of the Philippines but was interrupted when he entered the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City where he graduated No. 2 in 1961. He took up military pilot training at PAF Flying School and graduated in 1963. He holds in Masters Degree in Management from the Asian Institute of Management where he graduated in 1985.
Early in his career, General Rodriguez attended and completed various trainings and courses such as the C-47 Pilot Qualification Course at 205th Airlift Wing, Nichols Air Base (now CJVAB) in 1963; Squadron Officer Course at Air Force Officer School in 1971 where he earned a distinguished award; F-27 Pilot Qualification Course at the Philippine Air Lines in 1973; Air Command and Staff Course at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, U.S.A. in 1977. Defense Resource Management Course at Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California in 1987; F-28 Pilot Qualification Course at Fokker Training School, Holland; F-28 Pilot Qualification Simulator Course at Garuda Training Center, Indonesia in 1990; and the UH-1H/ B205 Pilot Qualification Course at 205th Helicopter Wing, Nichols Air Base in 1991.
General Rodriguez held numerous significant positions such as Squadron Commander of the 206th Air Transport Squadron from 12 March to 10 July 1973, 207th Air Transport Squadron from 01 July 1973 to 15 January 1974 and 204th Air Transport Squadron from 15 January to 01 June 1974 ; Air Component Commander of the RP-Indonesia Border Patrol from 01 May to 15 May 1981; Acting Commander of the PAF Security Command from 22 August to 10 September 1987; Wing Commander, 560th Composite Tactical Wing, Mactan Air Base, Lapu-Lapu City from 10 September 1987 to 15 October 1988; Wing Commander of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing from 15 October 1988 to 03 March 1991; Wing Commander of the 205th Helicopter Wing from 04 May 1991 to 07 Aug 1992; Vice Commander, PAF from 08 August 1992 to 12 December 1993; and finally, he assumed the position of Commanding General, Philippine Air Force from 13 December 1993 to 26 December 1995.
He is a recipient of various awards and decorations such as the Distinguished Service Stars, Outstanding Achievement Medal, Bronze Cross Medals, Silver Wing Medals, and Combat Commander’s “Kagitingan” Badge, among others.
Lieutenant General Rodriguez is married to Mrs Adoracion M Rodriguez with whom he has seven children namely Jocelyn, Roswald, Edward, Walter, Elizabeth, Arnold and Alexander.
