The Shield -The shield represents defense. It also signifies the Unit’s vigilance against the enemies of the state. It symbolizes the mandate of the Unit which is to protect its assigned area of responsibility in line with the overall mission of the PAF in the Units AOR.

Wavy Lines -The wavy lines represents the ocean, emphasizing that the Group’s AOR is situated in an archipelagic region wherein subordinate Units were separated by large bodies of water.

Upper Light Blue -Symbolizes the vast sky that the Air Force guards.

Lower Royal Blue Color -Depicts the large bodies of water that surround the whole AOR.

The Barung and Kris -These weapons of the Moro stand for bravery and determination of the people of this Unit to continue with their assigned task notwithstanding the dangers that may thwart them along the way. It symbolizes that the Unit is stationed in a Muslim dominated area. It also represents authority, leadership and righteous defense depicting the Group responsibilities not only in protecting the human and material resources of the PAF but also to people of Tawi-Tawi and Jolo, and to the whole nation as well.

Laurel Leaves and Unit/Location Name -Depicts the unity and commitment of the assigned personnel in the Unit in accomplishing its mission in the most responsible way that they can and carrying the name of the Unit in the pursuit of excellence.

Bongao Peak and Vinta - The green figure at the lower portion, represents a mountain famously called the Bongao peak, a distinct geographical landmark and considered enchanted by the locals of Tawi-Tawi. It also represents the Unit’s commitment for the protection and preservation of natural resources. It is a popular means of transportation in the area of Jolo and signifies that the Unit is located in an archipelagic region.

Eagle -is symbolical to the Air Force being one of the major services in AFP


To plan, control and coordinate the employment of air power in its area of responsibility.


Plans and coordinate the employment of tactical air assets;

b. Determine tactical air requirements in its AOR;

c. Exercise operational control/supervision over all deployed/ attached Air Force units;

d. Conduct tactical air operations within its area of responsibility;

e. Perform forward air control missions;

f. Perform airfield operations and services support functions;

g. Perform Civil Military Operations (CMO) within its AOR; and,

h. Perform other functions as directed by higher headquarters.
