PAF AIRCREW TRANSPORT FALLEN SOLDIER AND ASG KIDNAP VICTIMS IN MINDANAO

18 July 2017

The aircrew of the 220th Airlift Wing of the Philippine Air Force flew a number of significant sorties on July 18, 2017 despite the inclement weather brought about by the Intertropical Convergence Zone affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

Utilizing the N-22 Nomad aircraft, Pilot-in-Command, Major Carlo Magno D Ribaya PAF, and 1Lt Erikjoe Gregori Pelagio PAF transported one fallen hero, Sergeant Alamin Tadik PA, from Zamboanga back to his family in Jolo. He's the recent casualty in the ongoing clearing operations of the government troops against the Maute-terrorists in Marawi City. As a gesture of the AFP's tribute to his bravery in the face of death, military honors was rendered to him upon arrival at Jolo Airport.

For its second sortie, the aircrew picked-up two kidnap victims who were able to escape from the clutches of the Abu Sayyaf Group back to Zamboanga for a series of medical checkup, debriefing, and turn-over. This will also give them the opportunity to finally be reunited with their families safely.
