GENERAL ARNULFO E ACEDERA JR was born in Cardona, Rizal on 18 December 1941.

He was in his 3rd year in Civil Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology, Manila when he decided to join the Philippine Military Academy in 1959 where he graduated in 1963. He then further studied Military Pilot Training at the PAF Flying School, Lipa City where he graduated in 1965.

In his military career, he completed various trainings and courses such as the Counter Intelligence Course at Special Intelligence Training School, Intelligence Service AFP in 1967; Cloud Physics and Cloud Seeding Officers Course at CSIRO, Sydney, Australia; C-130 Flight Crew Training at Lockheed, Georgia Company, Marietta, Georgia, U.S.A. in 1973; Jetstar Flight Crew Training, Lockheed, Georgia Company, Marietta, Georgia U.S.A. in 1975; Swearingen Merlin III-A Flight Crew Training Course, San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A. in 1976; and Command and General Staff Course at Command and General Staff College, Fort Bonifacio in 1983, among others.

General Acedera held numerous significant positions such as Detachment Commander of the 3rd and 4th PAF Detachment, 601st Liaison Squadron of the 205th Composite Wing from 1966 to 1967; Performed duty with the Office of the Undersecretary of National Defense, Presidential Economic Staff, Presidential Development Management Staff, Philippine Aerospace Development Corporation, and Office of the Minister of Energy from 1973 to 1981; Commander of Task Force “GMA” in 1987; Commander of the Air Force Research and Development Center from 04 July 1988 to 15 July 1990; Wing Commander of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing from 16 November 1991 to 11 January 1994; Wing Commander of the 205th Helicopter Wing from 11 January 1994 to 14 June 1994; Division Commander of the 1st Air Division from 14 June 1994 to 08 November 1994; Deputy Chief of Staff, AFP from 08 November 1994 to 26 December 1995; Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force from 26 December 1995 to 28 November 1996; and finally as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippine from 28 November 1996 to 17 December 1997.

He is a recipient of various awards and decorations such as Distinguished Service Stars, Distinguished Aviation Cross, Bronze Cross Medal, Silver Wing Medal, AFP Combat Commander’s “Kagitingan” Badges, among others.

He is married to Mrs Stella R Acedera with whom he has two children namely Arnulfo Jose and Ana Marie.
