History

The Air Force Officer School (AFOS) traces its beginnings in 1949 at Camp Murphy, now known as Camp Gerieral Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City. The inception of the School, originally names as the Air Force Officer School (AFOS), was originally conceived by LIEUTENANT GENERAL PELAGIO A CRUZ (Ret) then the Commanding General, Philippine Air Force who saw the need to established a school that will provide the necessary instructions to Squadron Grade Officers to prepare them to handle command and staff positions appropriate to their rank. PAF Officers who were graduates and products of the USAF Air Tactical School formed the nucleus of administrators and faculty. These pioneers included BRIGADIER GENERAL JONAS A VICTORIA (Ret), the Major, who became the school's first Commandant. Since then it has graduated more than thousand officers.
