PRESS RELEASE

16 NOVEMBER 2009

WARNING  VS POOR PERFORMANCE

In a message addressed to all office chiefs, Air Force authorities issued a warning on poor performance of officials as well as employees.  The notice stated that getting unsatisfactory rating for two (2) consecutive rating periods may cause the individual to be dropped from rolls  after due notice is issued.  The record of poor performance becomes the basis of the officials’ or employees’ separation from the service.

The official or employee who demonstrates poor performance is informed in writing to enable the individual to state the reason/s for the low rating.  He/she is notified and provided sufficient counsel to improve his performance.  Performance is not only based on office tasks on prescribed work areas, but also in behavior such as deliberate participation in prescribed activities, among others. Failure to comply, despite the interventions extended can cause separation from the service.

While erring officials and employees are given the chance to explain job-related problems to address reasons for low and dismal performance, it is emphasized that officials and employees must and always keep up to the set standards of discipline, decorum and propriety as dictated by imposed rules in the workplace.
