PAF CONDUCTS SIMULTANEOUS TREE-PLANTING 

The Philippine Air Force conducted a simultaneous Tree-Planting activity last Saturday, May 21, 2011 in communities adjacent to all Air Force bases in Luzon, Visayas and Mindano.  In Metro Manila, the activity was conducted in Barangay Western Bicutan in Taguig City.  The activity was participated in by contingents from 520^th ABW led by Acting 520^th ABW Commander, Col. Godfrey Julio with barangay officials and their constituents.  At least some 500 fruit-bearing, medicinal and shade trees were planted in an area of 1,500 sq. meters.  

Similar activity was replicated in communities adjacent to Air Force bases in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.  The Air Force is always a staunch advocate of the environment and encourages all unit to include environmental activities such as coastal clean-up, adopt-a-mountain, clearing of esteros in communities, as one of the highlight events in unit anniversaries.

The simultaneous event forms part of the slated activities celebrating the forthcoming 64^th foundation anniversary of the Philippine Air Force on July 1, 2011, with this year’s chosen theme: “Ang Inyong Hukbong Himpapawid: Kaakibat Sa Kaunlaran at Kaisa Sa Kapayapaan”.#
