PAF Reservists demonstrate capability response against terror incident, disaster
VILLAMOR AIR BASE, Pasay City – Teams of firefighter, pararescuers, highly trained medical and emergency technicians, backed by ambulances, fire trucks, planes and rescue vehicles performed two well-coordinated responses to emergency situations during the Air Force Reservists Capability Demo at Villamor Air Base grandstand today. Brig. Gen. Horacio Lapinid, commander of PAF Reserve Command, said the event is part of a series of activities that will culminate in this year’s celebration of PAF 61st founding anniversary on July 2. In his speech, Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Pedrito Cadungog, the event’s guest of honor, expressed his thanks to the Air Force reservists for being ready in extending support to the people. He also exhorted them to continue with their advocacy of providing their professional capabilities to the needy, especially during disasters. The reservists demonstrated their response routines to a burning building with a well-coordinated participation of firefighters, medical personnel and evacuation specialists during the first scenario. The second scenario was a simulated hostage taking of a passenger bus where an actor playing the role of a terrorist killed the driver with a machete, and exploded a bomb hurting the passengers, prompting the deployment of snipers, assault personnel and back up paramedics and ambulances. The event featured air, sea and land assets and disaster response equipment of PAF reservists and reservist companies. A mass formation of reservists was also held. The whole day event was capped with a trade fair at the PAF museum. |
